Job Description
- Support development prototype testing on high-end routing technology platform projects
- Work with a variety of rework personnel, technicians, engineers, and
project managers in a prototype R&D environment (not production
line).
Responsibilities include:
- Bringup, debug, test, and allocation of prototype hardware
- Running test scripts and diagnostics on PCB's
- Troubleshooting to component level
- Assembling & installation of systems
- Loading of EPLD's
- Configuring systems, testing, and diagnosing errors
- Updating systems with new hardware and firmware
- Tracking parts distributed to development groups, Alpha, and Beta customers using inventory database system
- Generating Tracking reports
- Occasionally provide direction to rework or test technicians.
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Full-time Undergraduate or Graduate Program at an accredited university
- 3+ years of Engineering education
- Available for a six month co-op
- Able to participate as a team member
- Able to work independently
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Good written and spoken communication skills
- Able to test and troubleshoot boards to component level
- Familiarity with UNIX Operating System
- Ability to use Spreadsheet, Word Processor, Database, and Email.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to troubleshoot systems
- Hands-on knowledge of Oscilloscope, DVM, Logic Analyzer
- Familiarity with Cisco (or other) networking products
- Familiarity with HTML
- Some work experience in electronics industry.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Hall Current and Arcjet Thruster propulsion systems
are key components of Geo-synchronous Earth Orbit satellites used by
our military and commercial satellite service providers. Hall Thruster
Propulsion Systems
propel interplanetary spacecraft to and from their distant
destinations. Aerojet is the premier supplier of these enabling
propulsion systems. A key component of these systems is the Power
Processing Unit (PPU) which converts spacecraft power from solar arrays
to propulsion energy used by the Electric Propulsion thrusters. This
intern will work in the Electronics Engineering group and will support
our engineering team in the successful planning, design, development and
qualification of power electronics used for
electric propulsion on-board spacecraft.
Under direct supervision, the Intern will have responsibilities in the
area of engineering support of electronics development for electric
propulsion programs, including:
20% - Component, sub-system, and/or system level hardware development test planning, test conducting, and data analysis.
20% - Electrical circuit design and construction for hardware testing.
Hardware fabrication support, including nonconformance resolution.
20% - Coordination of activities with other internal organizations such as engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test.
20% - Perform engineering circuit analysis as required in support of program tasks.
20% - Presentation of results at internal and external meetings.
Students must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in
Electrical Engineering. Coursework and knowledge in the following areas
are required: EE fundamentals, circuit analysis, semiconductor
fundamentals, and analog power circuits. Must be proficient
in Microsoft Office and familiar with Matlab and/or SPICE software. An
undergraduate concentration in power conversion is desired. Experience
with development hardware, mechanical assembly and/or test preferred.
Must have ability/experience working in a team
environment and excellent written and verbal skills. Requires U.S.
Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person.
